This program and training is provided through funds made available through the Adolescent Health division of Kentucky Department for Public Health at no cost to the participant.

Registration open through February 9, 2018.  Space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged.

Financial donations will be accepted on behalf of the suicide prevention programs within Green River District.

Target Audience:

The program is being presented for registered nurses, social workers, health educators, youth service staff, and any adult who works directly with adolescent youth:  case workers, coaches, child advocates – even parents!

Description:

It is expected that participants will leave this training with an increase in knowledge of how to identify the dynamics during adolescent growth and development. Participants will learn strategies that will assist in identification and referral approaches for those teens at risk.

Objectives:

By the end of the training the participant will:

1.  Increase knowledge of the dynamics in adolescents which can create a risk for increase incidents of suicide and self-injurious behavior.

2.  Explore the media influence towards suicide as exemplified in such shows as 13 Reasons Why

3.  Identify risks and intervention strategies for professionals working with adolescents that may be performing acts of self-harm or suicidal ideations.

4.  Discuss the importance of assessment, intervention and treatment related of youth mental health issues.

Step One: TO COMPLETE A COURSE:


The Dashboard section of the TRAIN Home page is where your course management will take place. The “My Learning” section contains recent, active course registrations. To see all registrations, click the “Current Courses” button. 
Next to each course listing is an “M” button. This will allow you to “Manage” your individual course registrations. To manage a particular course, simply click the “M” button to the right of the Course Name. Mark your course as Completed: Click the “Completed” button to complete your course. 

Step Two: TO LAUNCH AN EVALUATION, YOU HAVE A VARIETY OF ACCESS POINTS:

On the Course Details page, where you originally registered for the course, under the 
Registration tab, there will be an evaluation button. If you click the “My Learning” link on the TRAIN Home page dashboard, you will see which recent course evaluations that need to be completed. 

On the TRAIN Home page, if you have an evaluation pending, a red alert notice will appear within the “My Action Items” section of the TRAIN dashboard. 

Step Three: TO VIEW OR PRINT A CERTIFICATE: 

Login to your TRAIN account and access the “My Certificates” link on the TRAIN Home page. This will reveal a list of recent Certificates. Click the “Certificate print icon” to the right of the page. This open or download a PDF version of the Certificate.
