Course Description

Family Support Worker Core Supervisor's Training provides information on managing and supervising your home visitation program. Areas of focus include program procedures and management systems; internal quality management; hiring and training staff; the parallel process in supervision; reflective strength-based supervision; and team building. This course is directed at the RN or Social Worker professional who provides reflective and administrative supervision for a HANDS program in an effort to ultimately improve maternal and child health and attachment outcomes. The course is designed to equip supervisors with leadership skills that will be used to improve the quality of the home visitors they manage which will improve the interventions provided by those home visitors in their work. This will ultimately increase the parenting skills of the families served by HANDS. This is the core of the strength-based concept of parallel process.

Instructor Bio

Misty is a Great Kids, Inc. Integrated Strategies for Home Visiting Trainer. She has sixteen years of experience in the field of Social Work. She has spent the last seven years with the HANDS Program where she continues to serve as a HANDS Parent Visitor and Family Support Worker Supervisor. She is a graduate of Western Kentucky University (1998), a Licensed Social Worker, and an Authorized Facilitator for Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children. Her prior experience includes Community Education, Crisis Intervention, and Volunteer Coordination.

Next to each course listing is an “M” button. This will allow you to “Manage” your individual course registrations. To manage a particular course, simply click the “M” button to the right of the Course Name.  Mark your course as Completed: Click the “Completed” button to complete your course.

TO LAUNCH AN ASSESSMENT, YOU HAVE A VARIETY OF ACCESS POINTS: (Only when applicable) 

On the Course Details page, where you originally registered for the course, under the

Registration tab, there will be an assessment button.  If you click the “My Learning” link on the TRAIN Home page Dashboard, you will see which recent courses have assessments that need to be completed.

On the TRAIN Home page, if you have an assessment pending, a red alert notice will appear

within the “My Action Items” section of the TRAIN dashboard.
